Client: Ameren Missouri
St. Louis Bridge furnished and installed railcar shakers at Ameren Missouri’s multiple power generating facilities in the St. Louis area. During below freezing conditions the bottom dump coal cars had a history of not being able to discharge their product onto the conveyor system waiting underneath the tracks. Foundations were added by carefully excavating to avoid the many underground lines, wire, pipes, and obstructions a power plant will hold. The concrete bases were poured to hold the overhead gantry cranes. These gantry cranes were used to attach the shakers to the top of the coal rail cars and then utilized a vibrating action causing them to release all their coal into the hoppers below the railroad tracks. To complete the project various sidewalk, handrail, and walkways were repaired to provide a safe working environment for Ameren personnel.
