This project replaced the bridge deck on Highway 21 over the Meramec River. The project was performed in three stages to allow for traffic to cross the river during construction. Deck removal was complicated by being over the river, and necessitated utilizing a protection/access system mounted on trolley rails attached to the lower chords of the truss. Significant repairs were required to the structural steel of the truss system. Once those repairs were completed the deck was formed with an SIP (Stay-in-Place) forming system. The deck was then poured using a slick-line pouring system since the truss structure would not allow for standard pump truck method. Work proceeded in this fashion for all three stages of construction then was open to traffic.
