The Melvin Price Lock and Dam project included work to all nine of the tainter gates. Each gate required clearing and cleaning of river debris from inside the gate, replacement of various debris shields and structural members, and blasting and painting. All of these work items were preformed from a floating plant. The work proceeded from the Missouri to Illinois side of the dam moving the floating plant from gate to gate. St. Louis Bridge worked closely with dam personnel to ensure proper safety procedures and operation of each gate. St. Louis Bridge developed Environmental Protection Plan for protection of the waterway, a Safety Action Plan to assure safety of our employees and dam personnel, and a Quality Control Plan to provide a quality product to the owner.
