- Design-Build, Pile Driving (Deep Foundations), Railroad projects, Steel Erection,

Client: Bechtel Power Corporation

Location: Marissa, IL

This project provided three railroad bridges for the Prairie State Energy Campus in Marissa, Illinois. The Prairie State Energy Campus project is a development which included a new coal mine and power generating facility. The tracks alignment provided by St. Louis Bridge Construction Co. is a spur line for the Canadian National rail line to provide train access to the power plant. This project was performed as a design-build contract, which provided the opportunity for St. Louis Bridge and their designer to work with the railroad and the power plant to address the needs of all parties. The final design provides an efficiently built structure which will serve the needs of the power plant for many years to come. Construction of the three bridges consisted of driven H-piling with pre-cast concrete caps for piers. Once the piers were constructed, structural steel spans were set, followed by the ties and rail for the trains.
