Client: Missouri Department of Transportation
Location: Cole County, MO
The scope of this project was to widen the existing bridge for the eastbound lanes of Route 50 over the Osage River near Jefferson City, Missouri. Both of the approaches and the main river spans superstructure were replaced. The new approach substructure consisted of cast in place concrete bents supported by H-piling. The existing river piers were widened by installing new permanently cased drilled shafts adjacent to the existing piers. New columns were constructed on top of the drilled shafts with web walls which tied into the existing pier above the water level. The drilled shafts were installed from the existing bridge deck prior to demolition. The existing steel girders were erected with cranes mounted on sectional barges.
